Funeral services for Roger Dale Barnett, age 81, of Sylacauga, Alabama will be held Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Officiants will be Bro. Mike Johnson and Bro. Joe Camp.
Roger will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
Roger "Blue" Barnett passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Grandview Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1944, to parents James Lewis Barnett and Monnie Carroll Barnett.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter Kristi Greene; his father James Lewis Barnett and his mother Monnie Carroll Barnett; his aunt Gertrude Carroll; and a best friend and "son", Blue, his cat.
Roger is survived by his wife, Amy Allegro Barnett; son Michael Barnett (Melinda); daughters Tracie Blankenship and Shelley Kelley; sister Dot Dale and brother Randy Barnett (Laura); grandchildren Tyler McKinney, Ryder Blankenship (Cassidy), Tanner Barnett (Kate), Madison Barnett, Ally Blankenship, Ryan Whaley (Hayden), great grandchildren Hudson Whaley, Hadley Waites; and a host of nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a very special friend, Phillip Burch.
Roger was a B.B. Comer Alumni. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 18 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He was a welder by trade and worked for 25 years with Kimberly Clark. Roger also was an avid Alabama fan.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Dale, Jared Dale, Matt Carroll, Tyler McKinney, Tanner Barnett and Ryder Blankenship.
