Obituary June 7, 2021

Sarah M. Cardwell; October 8, 1979-June 6, 2021 Sarah was born prematurely into this world and fought her way home... Her warrior spirit and light followed her all the days of her life as she attended Sylacauga City Schools (graduating class of 1998). She was the bright spot in everyone’s day and this really showed when she worked at Food World and for the Hallmark Corporation. She truly loved her customers and coworkers. Sarah was an avid traveler, especially loving cruises. Sarah’s warrior spirit showed up again later in life as she fought muscular dystrophy. Sarah was a weather watcher, watching “the man, James Spann” and her Cousin Brett Adair and warning everyone in her life of upcoming inclement weather. Many lives have been saved by her being glued to the television with her cell phone in hand. Sarah was loved by many: her mother (Sarah “Libby” Cardwell) and Grandmother; Shirley Cardwell and Brother; James J (Julie) Cardwell, and Sister; Leah (James) Murphy. She was the best “Aunt Bug” to her nieces and nephews (Anna Grace Murphy, Justice Aaron Murphy, Azusa Joy Murphy, Beckett Alexander Cardwell, Grayson Everett Cardwell). She was a special friend to all but especially Blake Baker. She was met in eternity by her father (James S. “Jimbo” Cardwell). Grandfathers; (Grafford Johnson and James R. “Mickey” Cardwell). Grandmother; (Annie Fay Johnson) Uncles; (Stan Cardwell and Tim Cardwell). The world is truly a little darker without Sarah in it. Arrangements will be a Graveside Service Thursday June 10, 2021 at 11AM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be from 10-11AM Thursday prior to the service at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Brother James Murphy will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be Day Johnson, Bo Johnson, Jon Cardwell, Ken Pugh, Brent Baker, Brian Baker, Mike Baker and James J. Cardwell. The family ask to please wear a mask and remember to social distance. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to Sylacauga City Schools Foundation. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service. I am so sorry to hear of Sara’s passing. I came to know Sara when she attended the Singles Sunday school class at Mignon Baptist Church many years ago. She was faithful to attend and often shared her prayer request with the class members. She had a heart for people and felt for their needs. May God bless Sara’s family and give them comfort in their grief.

Sarah was such a beacon of hope and a precious friend to all. I cherish all the messages she would send me and the sympathy card she sent me last year in my father’s passing. She was a strong warrior, someone who found real joy in life, and loved everyone. May Sarah Rest In Peace and healing comfort. Sending love and comfort to the whole family.
