Sarah was married for 67 years to the love of her life, Howard Grier. Her life was marked by steady devotion to home and family, and by the quiet strength of a woman who found genuine joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms of time spent together. She especially cherished gathering with family and friends to play cards and games, and she delighted in sharing good conversation over meals out. She also loved the mountains, drawn to their enduring beauty and calm.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra G. Roddenberry (Randy); her son, David S. Grier (Daphne); her grandchildren, Abigail Grantham (Ryan) and Faith Grier; her brother, Charles Tinsley (Norene); her sister, Lucille Boldin; and her brother, Ernest Tinsley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Grier; her father, Colonel Marrell Tinsley; her mother, Edna Earl Tinsley; her grandson, Isaiah Grier; her sister, Mary Elizabeth John; and her brothers, Frank Tinsley and Darnell Tinsley.
Visitation will be held at Rockford Baptist Church on September 21, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Homecoming at Rockford Baptist Church on September 21, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm.
Honorary pallbearers are Rachel Evans, Mark Boldin, Randall Lewis, Hunter Carlisle, Greg Grier, and Wayne Windsor.
Final resting place will be Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
The family will be receiving flowers or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
