With great love, the family of Sarah Webb Shaw shares news of her gentle passing. Sarah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit and strong faith blessed everyone who knew her.
She was the wife of the late David Mack Shaw and the daughter of Maud Anna Murphy Webb and Beaner Albert Webb. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Inez Blanks and Irene Alexander and her brother Billy Webb.
Although Sherry Parker King was Sarah’s niece by marriage, Sarah and Mack were asked to raise her when she was just 18 months old. From that moment on, Sherry became her daughter in every way, through “Jesus’ blood,” as she would say. Choosing to raise Sherry became her life’s mission, a selfless act of love that changed the trajectory of Sherry’s life, Sarah’s life, and generations that followed. When Sherry later married Byron King, Sarah welcomed him with the same open-hearted love. She loved Byron as her own and treasured the bond they shared.
Sarah adored her granddaughter Ashley King Bice and Ashley’s husband Andrew Bice, and she cherished her great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Jackson Bice. They brought her endless laughter and happiness.
She is survived by her sister Edna Earl Layne; sister-in-law Ruby Shaw; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Sarah also held close her best friends Marie McDonald, Betty Mizzell, and Violet Sanford, who were like family to her.
Sarah was a longtime member of Sylacauga First Assembly, where she was filled with the Holy Spirit, faithfully praised the Lord, and prayed daily over her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, located at 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama, on November 19, 2025, from 11:00 pm to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location in the Chapel at 12:00 pm with Bro. Brian Jones officiating. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Sarah’s life was full of love, faith, and kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she carried in her heart.
