Shirley Hurst McLainSylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Shirley Hurst McLain, 73, will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Mark Ledbetter officiating.  Burial will be in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.Mrs. McLain died Monday, August 18, 2014 at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert R. and Bernice E. Hurst and sister, "Baby Bo".  Mrs. McLain was a hairdresser by trade.  She was an avid Roll Tide fan, an accomplished artist, cook, bowler and a seamstress.She is survived by her husband, William Donald "Chick" McLain; sons, Phillip Sparks, wife Heather, and Billy Arnold Sparks Jr., wife Brenda; daughter, Sandra Kay Sparks, husband Vernon; brother-in-law, Thomas Foster McLain, wife Lula Faye; sister-in-law, Kattie Hocutt; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Hurst Jones and Betty Hurst Jones and brother, Billy Robert Hurst, wife Miriam. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
