Celebration of Life service for Stephen Grant Taylor will be Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 2PM at the Sylacauga First United Methodist Church with Earl Freeman and Chuck Terrell officiating. Visitation will from 1-2 at the church.
Mr. Taylor passed away on March 31, 2026.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Nancy Taylor, mother-in-law, Betty Jo Sims
He was a graduate of Elmore County High School and UAB. Stephen served the Healthcare Community in the area of Nuclear Medicine for 40 years. He was a dedicated advocate for the patients he served and was known for the compassionate care he
provided to patients and families facing a new diagnosis of cancer. He was a longtime member of the Sylacauga First United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the Technology Team. He dedicated 30 years to the Parks and Recreation Board, serving as chairman for the majority of the years he served. He was known for this quick wit, love for God, family, friends and this community. He loved to have fun and make others laugh. His most cherished title was that of “Papa T”, and he treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
He was survived by his wife of 43 years, Carla Taylor, son, Grant Taylor (Ashley), grandchildren, Bryant, Zachary, daughter, Alisha Taylor Fomby (Corey), grandchildren, Sims, Davis, brothers, Stacy Taylor (Laura), Shaun Taylor (Kristi), nephew, Nathan Taylor (Jen) nieces, Raegen Nuffer (Nathan), Alyssa Taylor, Kaitlyn Ellis (Macon), Madison Sorum (Phillip), brother-in-laws, Larry Sims (Jane), Jimmy Sims (Sheryl Baker), nephew, Jason Sims (Randee) and niece, Shannon Sims.
