Susan is survived by her husband, Harry Heigl; her son David Heigl (Kathy); and her daughter Melanie Heigl; her sisters Nancy Allen, Sharon Altman, and Mary Jo Kanzic; her brother Tom Martinka; and her grandchildren Benjamin, Wesley and Luke and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A visitation for Susan will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St Jude Catholic Church with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with Father Shobhan Singareddy officiating.
Susan will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Susan's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org; and Sylacauga Animal Shelter, 41 Shelter Lane, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150.
Susan worked as a special needs teacher's aid at Indian Valley for 25 years.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Adams Nursing Home in Alexander City for their great care for Susan.
