Troy’s life was marked by steady devotion—to his family, and to his faith. He was a man who cherished the people entrusted to his care, and those who knew him will remember the quiet strength of his love, the sincerity of his walk with Jesus, and the thoughtful spirit that found expression in his inspirational poems.
In 1964, he married Helen Jones Browning, and together they shared 62 years of marriage—years shaped by commitment, companionship, and enduring affection. Troy also found joy in seeing new places, and he especially loved to travel; among all destinations, the Smokey Mountains held his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Jones Browning; daughters, Renee Brewer (Richard) and Tammy Smith (Johnny); sister, Shirley Stanley of Phenix City, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Browning and Janie Varnon Browning; and siblings, William Browning, Ellis Browning, Eugene Browning, Willie Nell Roach, Lillie Mae Corbett, Marshall Browning, Catherine Honeycutt, and Thomas L. Browning.
