Virginia Thompson Hanna

Mrs. Virginia Thompson Hanna age 93 of Coosa County passed away at her residence on December 14, 2012. Funeral services for Mrs.Hanna will be on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at Curtis and Son North Chapel at 2PM. Visitation will be on Monday December 17, 2012 from 5-8PM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors are Daughter; Barbara Hanna Miller of Mobile. Five Grandchildren; Catherine Miller Jongko of Cincinnati Ohio. Michelle Miller Rumbles of Edinburgh,Scotland,UK.Phillip Hanna, Robert Hanna, and Janet Hanna of Sylacauga, Al. One Great Grandchild: Callie Grace Jongko of Cincinnati, Ohio. Several Nieces and Nephews. Mrs. Hanna was preceded in death by Husband; Carl Hanna Sr. Son; Carl Hanna Jr., and Grandson; Brian Miller. Mrs. Hanna was born in Fayette, Al. On May 28, 1919 the youngest of seven children. She was raised and educated in Fayette. She attended the University of Alabama for One year before relocating to Birmingham where she met and married Carl Hanna Sr. on May 30, 1942. They had two children Carl Hanna Jr. in 1943 and Barbara Hanna in 1948. She returned to school in 1953 attending Birmingham Southern College earning a Masters Degree in Education. During her working career she taught at Glenn High School in Birmingham and as a Counselor at Sycamore Middle School. She retied from teaching in 1979 making Sylacauga her home.Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will handle the funeral services for Mrs. Hanna.
