Cheryl is survived by her mother Augusta Machen; her brother Don Machen (Jane); her nieces Mindy Keel (Bobby) and Melany lannuzzi (Tony), her nephew Mike Machen (Polly) and her numerous Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Great Great Nieces, and Great Great Nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Louis Machen.
A visitation for Cheryl will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, 820 W Park St, Sylacauga, AL 35150, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Cheryl will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. All services will be officiated by Bro. John Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cheryl's memory may be made to Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
Cheryl loved God and lived a life in faith. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She loved her family and was a joyful and happy presence at all of the family gatherings and celebrations. She absolutely loved being a teacher. Teaching was her gift and she touched the lives of all her students. After living in Sylacauga all of her life, she cherished her dear friends and was thankful for all the special people in her life.
Cheryl was a proud alumna of Sylacauga High School, Auburn University, and Jacksonville State University. Following Auburn sports was at the top of her list and she faithfully cheered for the Tigers.
Her teaching career included years as a math teacher at Munford High School and BB Comer before becoming a guidance counselor at Sylacauga High School. Those years were precious to her and she stayed involved with many of her students throughout the years.
