William “Skatty” Dale Lytle, 53, was born May 17, 1973, in Atlanta, GA, and passed away on September 4, 2026. A resident of Sylacauga, Alabama, Skatty leaves behind a life remembered for its steady kindness, openhanded generosity, and the simple, everyday ways he made people feel his care.
Skatty cherished his family deeply, and that love showed up in how he looked out for them, especially as the devoted big brother who always protected his sisters as they grew up. He carried that same loyal, watchful care into every corner of his life, the kind that didn’t need an announcement to be real.
A collector of all things and a true jack of all trades, Skatty had the hands and the patience of a tinkerer, always figuring something out, fixing something up, or making something work again. He loved working in his yard, and he enjoyed riding with the speakers turned up loud, always on the go and never far from the next place he meant to be.
What people will remember just as clearly as his energy was his heart. Skatty never asked for anything, but he would help anyone, even if it meant giving his last two pennies. He also had a circle of close friends who were as much family as friends, and they gave him the nickname “Skatty,” a name that fit him so well it felt like it had always been his.
William is survived by his daughter, Makayla Thrower; his sons, Mason Lytle and Austen Lytle; the mother of his sons, Dana Bearden; his grandchildren, Gideon Williams, Nathaniel Stalvey, and Evalynn Matherson; his sisters, Pamela Bailey, Dorothy Ann Smith, and Pamela Bratcher; and his brothers, Kevin Vines and Lonnie Lytle, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie V. Lytle, Sr; his mother, Dorothy Michelle Messer; his brother, Jerome Lytle; his grandparents, Eulan and Ethel Harrison; and his nephew, Kevin C. Vines, Jr.
