William Boyce Turner, a kind-hearted, devoted, brave, and generous man, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 26, 1943, in Walnut Grove, Mississippi, William was the son of James and Kathryn Turner. As the son of an Air Force Captain, William experienced the loss of his father at the tender age of 12, after which his mother moved the family to Mississippi. They later relocated to central Alabama, where William settled in the Childersburg area.
William served in the Army and National Guard for about seven years, during which he earned the prestigious parachutist badge. He was a long-time employee of Kimberly-Clark and retired from the company after many years of dedicated service.
William was married to Bonnie Turner for 32 years until her passing in 2023. Though he was not able to see his son, Greg, as often as he would have liked, they maintained a close bond through frequent phone conversations.
A faithful believer in Christ, William was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Childersburg. He was known as a simple man with a desire to help others, described as having "a heart bigger than most folks."
William is survived by his son, James Gregory "Greg" Turner and his wife Mary; grandson, Joshua Turner; granddaughter, Kimberly Turner Kennedy and her husband Allen; great-grandchildren, Kaylin Kennedy and Brenna Kennedy; stepdaughter, Tammy Macleroy; stepson, Kenneth Gould Jr.; and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie, his brother John Randolph "Randy" Turner, his sister Kay Turner Henry, and his stepson Jeffery Todd Gould.
A memorial service will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, located at 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama, on November 12, 2025, at 10:00 pm.
The family would like to express their gratitude to those who were part of William's life in his later years and to the friends who stood by his side at the end of his life. William's legacy of generosity and kindness will be cherished by all who knew him.
