Alice Laurie Jenkins Grooms

MILLEN, GEORGIA

Mrs. Laurie Jenkins Grooms, age 91, of Millen, died Friday night, 11/22/2013, in the Bethany Home Nursing Center in Millen.

She was born in Screven County, Georgia, September 15, 1922, to the late William Grady and Connie Hires Jenkins. She was a retired seamstress for over 40 years for the Thomson Company Millen Plant and was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include, Daughters, Gail and Larry Griffin of Bremen, GA, Dolores and Martin Mendez of Millen, Son, Terry Grooms of Myrtle Beach, SC, Grandchildren, Tonia McIntosh, Shannon Matheson, David Hair, Jr., Doug Hair, Ginger Grooms, William Grooms, Angel Weaver, and Christy Grooms, 9 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren, a Sister-in-Law, Frances Gorrell of North Augusta, SC, and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Grooms, a son, Tim Grooms, and a grandson, Shane Griffin.

Funeral services for Mrs Grooms will be held Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the Antioch Christian Church with the Rev. George Evanson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Larry Griffin, Martin Mendez, Steve Matheson, Eric McIntosh, Shannon Powell and Grady Jenkins.

Mrs. Grooms will lie in state at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
