Annie Laurie Sheppard Dent

Sylvania – Annie Laurie Sheppard Dent, age 84, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012, at her residence in Sylvania. She was born in Screven County, GA, was retired from Community Action Agency in Augusta and was a member of Wades Baptist Church. She had worked for the CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Screven County Neighborhood Service Center as a Community Development Worker starting July 11, 1966. She dedicated her career to helping people improve their standard of living. She worked diligently to provide community education, housing, employment, energy assistance services and self help opportunities for the low income population. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Zebedee Dent; Parents: Harry & Marion McGregor Sheppard.

Survivors: Son: Jerome Dent of Sylvania; Brother: Donald R. Sheppard of Ormond Beach, FL; Grandchildren: Shellie Patrice Dent and Dalton J. Dent, both of Sylvania; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: Friday, April 27, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Chapel with the Rev. Dan Joyner officiating. Burial at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Wendal Aiken, Carl Aiken, James Balaskiewiez, Thomas Mercer, Alex Mercer, Cody Mercer, Bill Ward and Roger Sheppard. Honorary Pallbearers: Neal Wiley, Randy Bragg and George Wiley.
