

Sylvania – Bruce Irving Jenkins, age 77, passed away on August 4, 2016, at his residence in Sylvania. He was born in Screven County, GA to the late Elzie Erving & Ruth Sowell Jenkins. He was a member of Sylvania First Christian Church, worked as a mechanic and was retired from the Screven County Board of Education, having taught auto mechanics for many years. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He also attended Oak Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife: Marguerite O’Quinn Jenkins.
Survivors: Sons and Daughters-In-Law: Michael Jenkins of Dickson, TN, Bruce Allen & Tina P. Jenkins of Sylvania and Craig & Wendy D. Jenkins of Lincolnton, GA; Sisters and Brothers-in-Law: Avis J. & Alfred Alexander and Marilyn J. & James Hammons, all of Sylvania and Ann J. Thomas of Williston, SC; 4 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Grandchild; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Saturday, August 6, 2016 at12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Pevey and Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Burial following at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Harrell Fries, Owen Ferguson, Dale Brown, David Hammons, Joey Jenkins and Jason Pearce. Honorary Pallbearers: Treshman Fries, Family of Marguerite O. Jenkins and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
