Mr. Elias Brown Oliver, 84, of Sylvania, died Saturday morning, April 14, 2012, at his residence under hospice care.
Mr. Oliver was born in Screven County, Georgia, was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, the Thursday Morning Prayer Breakfast Club at Sylvania 1st United Methodist Church, the Screven County Senior Citizens Group, and was a retired technician for Delta Termite and Pest Control of Waynesboro and Sylvania for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chandler and Marie Davis Oliver and a son, Jerry Oliver.
Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, Lela Mock Oliver of Sylvania, a daughter, Gwen Oliver of Sylvania, a brother and sister-in-law, Jack, Sr. and Betty Oliver of Sylvania, Grandchildren, Travis Oliver, Misty and Dusty Oliver, Heather and Josh Weaver, and Jenny and Jerry Bowers, 9 Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Oliver will be held Monday, April 16, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry James and the Rev. Patricia McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Jack Oliver, Jr., Terry Oliver, Ricky Doyle, Duane Neesam, Dustin Suggs, and T. Arthur Jacobs.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Ricky Blackburn, Rickey Dickey, W. A. and Loretta Arrington, Cathy Forehand, and members of the Thursday Morning Prayer Breakfast Group of Sylvania 1st United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Monday from Noon until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.
