Fred Andrew Owens

Mr. Fred Andrew Owens, 73, of Sylvania, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice and his family.

He was born July 21, 1941, in Paintrock, Alabama to the late Alice Irene Hammonds Oglesby and Joseph Emmit Owens. He was a member of the Red Bluff Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a Sister, Nancy Owens and a Brother, Eugene Owens.

Survivors include, His Wife, Deborah Jenkins Owens of Sylvania, Sons and Daughters-in-Law, David Owens, Clark and Angela Owens, Joseph Michael and Amanda Owens, and Joshua Grant Owens all of Sylvania, A Sister, Lucille Robbins of Statesboro, Grandchildren, Austin Owens, Wyatt Owens, Caleb Owens, Arie Owens, and Mayleen Owensall of Sylvania, Jessica Milton of Statesboro, and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Owens will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 11:00 A.m. at the Chapel of Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home of Sylvania with the Rev. Mike Mann officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Nick Ward, Benji Stokes, DeWayne Jackson, Larry Hughes, Roger Cleland, and Mark Stevens.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Dianne Cooper, Beatrice Doyle, Marion Doyle, Renee Forehand, Ricky Forehand, Liz Hutley, and Brenda Waters.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home chapel.
