Gilda took her cousin, Juanita Goodson, to a skating rink somewhere near Miami, sometime in 1943. At that skating rink was Seaman William Taggart of the US Navy. The story goes that Seaman Taggart and Juanita met after he knocked her to the floor. Much fun was had and Gilda and Juanita were late returning home. So late that Emily, Gilda's mother, was seen pacing the street in front of the Goodson home, while wringing her hands with abject worry. Imagine her chagrin when Aunt Emily discovered her daughter and niece were associating with a sailor.

But this has a happy ending. William and Juanita were my father and mother and Gilda was responsible for their first meeting. Thank you Gilda and Charlotte and Lee and Bob and Carol and Uncle Buford and Aunt Emily.

Mrs Kidd it’s been a true pleasure getting to know you and being your hairdresser for the past 3 years! I enjoyed our visits and talks so much. I will surely miss your smile and sweet face on Wednesday’s at the nursing home. Love, Tracy
