Jimmie Ray Godbee

Mr. Jimmie Ray Godbee, 82, of Sylvania, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice and his loving family. He was born August 10, 1935, in Screven County to the late Raiford Royal and Cathleen Oglesby Godbee. He served in the Georgia Air National Guard, was a self-employed operator of a saw mill and cotton gin and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: his wife, Sylvia Lovett Godbee, 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Jimmie Lynn and Janet Godbee, Myron Eric (Pete) and Ellen Godbee, and Kenneth (Skeeter) and Ira Godbee, and his step-mother: Lillian Godbee all of Sylvania, Grandchildren: Michael Alan and Crystal Godbee of Douglasville, Georgia, Janna Nicole and Lloyd Taylor, Christian Tyler and Anna Godbee, Courtney Morgan and Tommy Boddiford, Allison Anne and Dustin Hendley, and Dustin Matthew Godbee all of Sylvania, and 8 Great-Grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Mr. Godbee will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania. Rev. Ralph Dixon will officiate and visitation will be held after the services. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions please be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P. O. Box 536, Statesboro, GA 30458.
