Newington – Wilmur Ellison Burns, age 94, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018, at his residence in Newington. He was born in Screven County to the late Brantley Alonza & Anna Jane Daley Burns. He was a retired farmer and was a member of North Newington Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the Screven County Farm Bureau. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife: Juanita Allen Burns; Sisters: Rhena B. Wright and Miriam B. Price; Brothers: Alonza Lee Burns and Ertel Burns.

Survivors: Daughters: Deborah Ann Holland of Sylvania and Connie Marie Dyches of Newington; 5 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home. Funeral Services: Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at North Newington Baptist Church with Rev. Slade Speir officiating. Burial will follow at North Newington Baptist Church Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

Pallbearers: Phillip Deason, David Deason, Christopher Rodewalt, Daniel Rodewalt, Andy Burns, Tommy Wallace, Stephen Parker and Devin Anderson.
