Alois A. Samide

Born in Ridgewood, NY, he was the only son of Alois and Josefa “Sophie” Samide (née Knospler). He was predeceased by his two sisters, Maria Page and Helen Lang.

Alois was the loving husband of Barbara Samide (née Brauner) for 68 years, and a loving father to Laura Samide McNeice, Allen Samide, and Gary Samide. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren — Alexander Samide, Rachel Samide Cruz, Robert Samide, Megan McNeice, Kelly McNeice, Samantha Samide, and Nicholas Samide — and a great-grandfather to Rayne, Rayden, and Ravenna Cruz.

He began his career at Con Edison as a lineman and member of the Survey Team before joining the New York City Police Department in 1961. During his service, he was assigned to the 83rd Precinct in Brooklyn and later to the Brooklyn Central Booking Section at the 84th Precinct. He retired from the NYPD in 1986 and continued working with JTI Investigations until 2000.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A visitation for Alois will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791. A visitation will occur Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791. A committal will occur Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
