It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Anita Zarbis (Schettini), who left us on Saturday, July 26, 2025. A remarkable woman known for her strength, independence, and unwavering spirit, she lived life on her own terms, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born April 6, 1944, Anita was a devoted sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her loving sister, Carol and Bob Valderrama. She leaves behind a close-knit family of nieces and nephews: Bobby and Amanda, Melanie and Danny, Bryan and Ava, Frank and Amy, Lisa and Mike, Richard, Diana and the late David, and Anne-Marie and Danny, as well as her many cousins, and 18 cherished great-nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Angelina, two beloved brothers, Richard and Frank, and her niece, Debbie, and her husband, Milton Zarbis. She is lovingly remembered by her step children, Christine and Andrew.
Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, located at 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, on July 31, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 93 Anstice St, Oyster Bay, NY 11771, on August 1, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
Interment will follow at Locust Valley Cemetery, 117 Ryefield Rd, Locust Valley, NY 11560, on August 1, 2025, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
