

Christina was born in New York City, the third and youngest child of Thomas McNamara and Christina DeVries McNamara. She grew up in Maspeth, New York.
In 1943, she graduated from the Bellevue Schools of Nursing. After graduation, she was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, assigned to the Army Nurses Corps, in which she served as a psychiatric nurse. Her last station was Mason General Hospital on Long Island.
At the end of the war, Christina returned to civilian life and married Martin Carroll in 1946. They moved to Syosset, New York in 1954, where they raised their four children.
Christina earned her bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Oneonta in 1971, and was the school nurse-teacher of Alice P. Willets Elementary School in the Syosset Central District until her retirement in 1993. She co-authored the health curriculum for the district.
In retirement, Christina, now widowed, relocated to a retirement community in South Setauket, New York. She was a grandmother of six and a great grandmother of seven. She loved singing, art, reading, gardening, and travel, and she pursued all these activities well into her senior years.
Christina is survived by her sons, Terence Carroll and Timothy Carroll (Carol); her grandchildren, Michael Bevelaqua, Anna Christina Locher, Alessandra Matos, Mathew Carroll, Mark Carroll and Timothy Carroll; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Locher, Ronan Carroll, Jake Locher, August Carroll, Maya Matos, Silas Locher, Jackson Matos.
Christina is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Christina McNamara, her husband, Martin J. Carroll, and her daughters, Maureen Carroll Bevelaqua (Fred) and Patricia DeWeger.
Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, US, on March 15, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church, 205 Jackson Ave, Syosset, NY 11791, US, on March 16, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
Interment will take place at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Ave, New York, NY 11365, US, on March 16, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm.
