Aunt Diane was very sweet when I started coming back to Long Island in the summers with my pack of small children. Always something nice to say wrapped in a funny turn of phrase. She gave my girls a Babar book, which I believe had been hers at one time. She explained that since my children were French, it was only appropriate that they should have a French children's story. It was really thoughtful and touching because it was a book that has clearly meant something to her. We'll certainly miss seeing her smiling face at the beach in the summer.
