Eileen Patricia Ennis

Eileen Patricia “Pat” Ennis, born December 6, 1930, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 95. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Pat lived with resilience, unwavering faith, generosity, hard work, and an extraordinary zest for life.

Born and raised in Freeport, New York, Pat spent several decades at Bloomingdale’s, where her professionalism, warmth, and dedication earned the admiration of colleagues and customers alike. She spent more than seven decades in the home she shared with her beloved husband, Bert, where generations of family and friends were always welcomed with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Even after retiring, she remained deeply involved in her community through volunteer work and was a devoted member of her church.

Pat believed in making the most of every day. She worked well into her 70s, exercised into her 90s, loved to travel, and was known for her impeccable sense of style, confidence, determination, and quick wit. Strong-willed yet deeply compassionate, she welcomed everyone into her home and her heart. One of her favorite reminders was to “do something nice for someone every day,” a simple philosophy she faithfully lived.

Despite enduring profound loss throughout her life, Pat met every challenge with remarkable grace and strength, never allowing hardship to diminish her capacity for love, joy, or forgiveness. Her greatest pride was always her family, and nothing brought her more happiness than watching it grow across four generations.

She is survived by her son, Richard Ennis (Mindy); her grandchildren Nicholas Ennis, Kirsten Gaeta (Frankie), Oliver Ennis (Leslie), and Melissa Katz (Adam); and her cherished great-grandchildren Tommy Ennis, Calvin Ennis, Jackson Gaeta, Juliette Gaeta, Brianna Ennis, Andrea Ennis, Sophie Katz, and Mason Katz. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bert; her children Barbara, Gail, and Peter; her parents; and her siblings Barbara and Peter.

Pat’s legacy lives on in the family, friends, and countless lives she touched through her kindness, strength, and example. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. The family hopes that those who knew Pat will honor her memory by living as she did—with compassion, resilience, generosity, and by doing something nice for someone every day.

Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church, 205 Jackson Avenue, Syosset, NY 11791, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
