Born on March 20, 1942, in the Philippines to a Chinese family, he was one of eight siblings—three sisters and four brothers—and came to America in 1969. He later made his home in Syosset, New York.
Eng Hua was an entrepreneur whose efforts reflected both initiative and perseverance. He owned a hardware business, O.K. Hardware & Enterprises, Inc., which has served the Soho and Chinatown community for 50 years as an independent hardware store.
In 1970, he married his wife, Juanita Ngeo. He is survived by Juanita; his children Tiffany Ngeo, Edwin Ngeo (Julie), Christine Katzman (Joshua), and Eric Ngeo; and his grandchildren Hazel Katzman, Katie Katzman, and Matthew Ngeo.
Outside of work, Eng Hua found joy in pursuits that required patience and an attentive hand. He enjoyed raising fish, and he took particular pleasure in gardening. He also had a strong interest in stocks and investing. He valued friendship deeply, calling his friends and relatives every weekend morning diligently. He was generous to his family local and abroad.
Travel was another source of deep meaning and enjoyment for Eng Hua. In his lifetime, he saw Park Güell, the Mogao Caverns, the Sistine Chapel, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and the Reclining Buddha in Bangkok. He loved to share these experiences with his family, and these trips remain deeply cherished memories.
Eng Hua Ngeo will be remembered with gratitude and respect—for his hard work, his devotion to family, and the gracious spirit with which he lived among others.
Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, US, on July 13, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
