Gertrude Woods

Trudy Woods, aged 94, of Laurel Hollow NY passed away peacefully on September 1 2026.

Trudy was born in Glendale, New York, to Ottile (née Schuermann) and Robert Schoendorf. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree from C.W. Post College.

Trudy was a woman of remarkable energy who lived life with enthusiasm and a love of being active. She had a lifelong appreciation for flowers and their beauty.

Trudy devoted much of her professional life to helping others. She worked at Nassau Community College as an academic and social counselor in the Students with Disabilities Program, organizing, supporting and advocating for that student community.

Family remained an important part of Trudy’s life. She and her husband, William Paul Woods, raised four children on Long Island. In later years, she especially cherished being a grandmother. She was a loving grandmother to her four granddaughters and took great joy in watching them grow and being part of their lives. She was also a life long learner, who took classes in music, history and architecture well into her 80s.

Trudy was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Inge Muench; her brother, Walter Schoendorf; her daughter, Laura; and her husband, William.

She is survived by her daughter, Deirdre; her sons, Brian, Mark, and Timothy; granddaughters, Leigh Woods Silver, Heather Anne Woods Silver, Piper Woods, and Rory Woods; and her great granddaughter Winona Silver Wilson.
