

John Xavier Lorenz, 67, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Ridgefield, Connecticut and Long Island, New York, died October 21, 2013 after a long illness. Known as Jack and X-man by his friends and family, he was born in 1946, graduated in 1964 from Elmont High School, was a Vietnam veteran who served in the Marines from 1966-1968, and a graduate of Hofstra University with a B.S. in Accounting. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara E. Lorenz, whom he married in 1970, his daughter, Heather J. Lorenz, son and daughter-in-law, Seth and Yuliet Lorenz, granddaughters, Eliza and Sofia, mother-in-law, Minnie Schiller, brother-in-law, Michael Schiller, and nephew and wife, Jaime and Tracy Schiller. Jack began his career with Arthur Anderson & Co. in 1971. Later, he worked for the FASB/FAF in Stamford/Norwalk, CT, and Mahoney, Cohen, Paul & Co. in NYC, before beginning his own consulting and retail businesses in White Plains, NY. He moved to Ridgefield, CT with Barbara and his children in 1983, where he became an active soccer travel team coach for the Ridgefield Express, officer of the Soccer Club of Ridgefield, chauffeur to early morning ice skating lessons, supporter of Spotlight Theatre and its actors and actresses, and a regular spectator of Ridgefield High School Football, Baseball, Indoor Track, Choir, Madrigals, Jazz Band and Theater. He relocated with Barbara to Naples, FL in 1997 where he owned/operated several retail businesses and worked in commercial real estate. A music, theater and sports lover, Jack enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation. A small burial and service will be held graveside at 10:30am on Friday, October 25th at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island. The family will be receiving visitors following the service at 2pm at the home of Rich and Linda Salute in Woodbury, NY.
