Maria Angela Guagenti was a devoted wife, loving mother of three daughters, (Gina, Marilu, and Lorena), loving mother-in-law of three son-in-laws, (John, John, and Stephen), cherished grandmother and great-grandmother whose life was defined by faith, sacrifice,
unwavering love, and devotion to her family. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind and the countless lives she touched.
Born in Canicattì, Sicily, Italy, our mom courageously left her parents, her beloved four brothers, and her homeland at the age of 21 to begin a new life in America with her childhood sweetheart, Gioacchino “Jack” Guagenti. They first met as children growing up as neighbors in Canicattì—Mom was just 9 years old, and Dad was 11. Even then, he would tell her that one day he was going to marry her. Years later, that childhood promise came true, beginning a lifetime of love and devotion.
Our mom’s greatest joy was caring for her family. She was an incredible Italian cook whose homemade pizza, rice balls, the best chicken cutlets, and Sunday sauce brought everyone together. Nothing made her happier than feeding the people she loved—especially her cherished grandchildren, (Andrew, Brendan, Thomas, Jack, Angela, Nicole, and Daniel). Whether they were hungry or not, she made sure no one ever left her home without a full stomach. She was also blessed with two precious great-grandchildren, (AJ and Natalia), who brought her so much joy.
She was a talented seamstress who lovingly made and tailored clothes for us, always making us feel like princesses.
Her strong Italian culture, deep faith, countless sacrifices, and unconditional love shaped our lives and those of our children. We are forever grateful for every lesson she taught us, every family recipe she passed down, every meal she prepared, every hug she gave, and every sacrifice she made.
Mom, thank you for giving us a lifetime of love. You will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always in our hearts.
With all our love,
Your daughters, Gina, Marilu, and Lorena
