Born in Brooklyn on March 26, 1925, Mary completed high school and went on to build a long and meaningful life grounded in family, steady work, and community. She was a resident of Syosset, New York.
In 1956, Mary married her beloved husband, Ralph Pettinicchi. In 1960, they settled in Syosset, where they raised their two sons, Anthony and John. Mary devoted more than three decades of service to the Syosset school district and continued working until her retirement at age 85—an enduring testament to her steadfast sense of responsibility and purpose.
Mary found joy in the everyday rhythms that make a life rich. She cherished time at the Syosset senior center, where she enjoyed tai chi, exercise classes, and bridge games shared with friends. With quiet discipline, she credited her longevity to daily walks and a healthy diet.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Anthony (Theresa Hughes) Pettinicchi and John (Deanne) Pettinicchi; her four grandchildren, Lynette Pettinicchi, Michael Pettinicchi, Marina Pettinicchi and Matthew Pettinicchi; and many more friends and family.
Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, US, on August 25, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church, 205 Jackson Ave, Syosset, NY 11791, US, on August 25, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am.
Interment will take place at St. Charles / Resurrection Cemeteries, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, US, on August 25, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
