Richard Peter Bisso, affectionately known as RPB, passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Bensonhurst, NY, Richard lived a full, extraordinary life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Peter Bisso; his in-laws, Charles and Bernice Panzner; and his son-in-law, Robert Lichtenstein. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michele; his four children, Lainie Lichtenstein, Peter Bisso, Diana LoRusso, and Charly Kellermeyer; his sons-in-law, Michael LoRusso and William Kellermeyer; his daughter-in-law, Diana Bisso; his cherished grandchildren, Wesley Lichtenstein, Helena LoRusso, Matteo Bisso, and Marco Bisso; and sister Rosemary Viola and brother-in-law Ray Viola.
Above all else, Richard’s family was the center of his world. He was the most incredible husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend – not one in a million, but the one and only. Known for his boundless heart, radiant smile, and infectious laugh, Richard was his family’s greatest cheerleader and their constant source of strength and happiness.
A brilliant businessman, Richard excelled in the construction and real estate industries in Manhattan. He led by example in both business and life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard was a legendary storyteller, a quick-witted jokester, and a man whose knowledge and wisdom will be passed down for generations.
Richard proudly served as a marine, commander of the American Legion in Manhattan, and member of the Columbus Citizens Foundation. He owned racing horses, loved attending bullfights in Madrid, and was a passionate football fan, once playing at the collegiate level. Larger than life, Richard embodied generosity, loyalty, and joy. His presence was a gift, and his legacy as the patriarch of his family will remain forever treasured.
A wake will be held on Friday, September 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY. A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 27, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 205 Jackson Avenue, Syosset, NY.
