Sam J. Raffa, 93, long time resident of Syosset. Beloved husband of 66 years to Patricia. Loving father of Charles (Linda), Marybeth Raffa Miller, and Caroline Tyree. Adored grandfather of Robert, Stephen (Meredith), Victoria, Paul (Colleen), Daniel (Katelynn), Sarah, Charles, Samuel, Juliana, Emily, and Matthew. Great grandfather of Theodore, Penelope, Dominic, and Lily.
Sam graduated from St. John’s University and was an attorney for over 50 years. He was active in many charitable organizations, including a charter member of Knights of Columbus-St. Paul the Apostle Council and Order of the Sons of Italy. Sam was a member of the Syosset Veterans of Foreign Wars, having proudly served his country.
A visitation for Sam will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, New York 11791. A Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Dominic RC Church, 93 Anstice Street, Oyster Bay, New York 11771. An entombment with military honors will follow Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Saint Charles Resurrection Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, New York 11735.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude, Wounded Warriors, or Knights of Columbus would be appreciated.
