Stephen R. Juengst

Stephen was born on January 13, 1934 in Brooklyn N.Y. to Edward and May Juengst. He was raised in Queens NY alongside his beloved younger brother Robert Juengst, who predeceased him in 2025.

Stephen began his higher education at City College where he swam and played water polo competitively. He was later drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Fort Bliss Texas, where he became a missile instructor. Although he often shared stories of arriving for the draft and facing the unknown, he left the service with many stories and fond memories of his fellow soldiers.

Upon his return to NY Stephen went on a blind date where he met and fell in love with Lucille Cicorelli who would become his beloved wife. They would soon be married and settle in Syosset where they would raise their children Stephen and Jannine.

Stephen was passionate about the aerospace industry and began his career as an electrical engineer working on aircraft at Fairchild on LI. He eventually joined Grumman Aerospace where he contributed to the development of the F-14 Tomcat. Over the course of his career he rose through the ranks into management, leading research and development programs, building a career he took great pride in.

Stephen eventually moved to Oyster Bay Cove with his beloved wife Lucille, where they would build their dream home and celebrate 55 years of marriage. Their home was a cherished place for family to gather and countless fond memories.

Stephen is survived by his children Stephen D. Juengst and Jannine Mitchell, his grandchildren Michael Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Marc Mitchell, Daniel Juengst, and Samuel Juengst. He is predeceased by his wife Lucille, his brother Robert Juengst, and his parents May and Edward. He is also remembered by his caring and patient aids Andrew Miller and Jacqueline Fuller, whose kindness and dedication were deeply appreciated.

Stephen will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, on September 25, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Entombment will take place at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Rd, Westbury, NY 11590, on September 26, 2026, from 10:15 am to 11:15 am.
