

Carmen “Tony” Oliveri, 82, of Maryland and a native of Syracuse, NY, passed away Wednesday at the Mandarin Impatient Care Facility, MD. Tony, as he preferred to be called, is a retired Air Force Veteran Who’s area of expertise was in military communications and subsequently resulted in his be assigned to military complexes in Aleutians Islands, The
Caribbean’s, Europe, and multiple U.S. Air Force Facilities, one of which was the Air Force Facility at Hancock Air Base during the late 1950’s. During his retirement from The Air Force, he engaged in a variety of Communications endeavors which resulted in his choice to reside in the State of Maryland. While in the Military he pursued a college degree in engineering and related studies. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Oliveri in 2010; brother, Bruno Oliveri; sisters, Joanna Bennett and Ellen Elana Oliveri.
Tony is survived by his sons, Michael Oliveri of California and John Oliveri, of Maryland; daughters, Madeline Oliveri of NYC, and Patricia Oliveri, of Florida; eight grandchildren; sister, Frances Palumbo; brothers, Sam Oliveri and Emanuel Oliveri, of Syracuse; and more than thirty nephews and nieces.
Being jovial and a good natured individual he will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday 10 a.m. at PIRRO & SONS FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
