

Gerald A. Mastropaolo, 85, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday at Veterans Hospital with his family by his side. A life resident of Syracuse, he retired from Prestolite. A veteran of the United States Navy, Gerald served his country during WWII. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Kelly Jean and sister, Madeline Soutar.
Survivors include his children, Deborah Slade of Phoenix, AZ, Joseph (Anne) Mastropaolo of Syracuse, Diana (Dominick) Aiello of San Diego, CA, and Cynthia (Robert) Wehrmeyer of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Carmella Orbino of North Syracuse and Genevieve O’Neill of Lakeland; grandchildren, Jason (Hillary) Slade of Baldwinsville, Brooke Slade of Phoenix, AZ, Lee Winchester of Phoenix, AZ, Mara (Richard) Gillani of Fayetteville, Angela Aiello and John Aiello, both of San Diego, CA; Ashley Wehrmeyer and Trey Wehrmeyer, both of San Antonio, TX; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and a number of close friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday 9:30 a.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 10 a.m. at Assumption Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
