

Leonard Licari, 90, of Fairmount, passed away Saturday. Leonard was born in Frankfort, NY in 1921. He served in WWII, a Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as a draftsman designing furniture in Herkimer before moving to Syracuse to work for SU in the physical plant remodeling dorms, classrooms etc. Leonard was married to his wife Grace Fiorentino Licari for 60 years, who passed away in 2008. Together they had five children, thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Leonard was a warm and loving father and grandfather. His grandchildren loved to play silly games with him or join him in his workshop to work on special art projects. Leonard loved to garden. Every year he would plant a vegetable garden and would attend to his fruit trees and grape vines. Leonard also did art projects. He made sculptures in wood, copper, brass. He would travel to Florida with Grace to gather sea shells which he would later use in his art projects. Leonard was a devoted Catholic and was a parishioner of the Holy Family Church for over 40 years.
Survivors: daughters, Vita Waite of Pittsford, NY, Donna (David) Wexler of Ithaca, NY, Kathleen (Robert) Wilson of Syracuse and Sandra (Robert) Mott of Virginia; son, Louis Licari of New York, NY; sister, Angeline (Stuart) Hazlett of Nelliston, NY; brother, Sam Licari of Frankfort, NY; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Ben Licari and sister, Rose Montana.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:15 a.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Calling hours will be held Monday (today) from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home,1500 Park Street.
