Mary A. Coates

Mary A. (Pontillo) Coates, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Loretto. Born in Syracuse, she was a life resident of the area. Mary retired from MacAlaster Bicknell Co. after many years. She was a member of the Lyncourt Seniors and the Eastwood Wagon Wheels. Mary enjoyed knitting and crocheting and spending time with her family. Predeceased by her brothers, Francis, Sylvio, Robert, and Alfred; and one sister, Marguerite.

Survivors: Her daughter, Sylvia (Arthur) Coughlin of Clay; her son, Thomas (Marjorie) Coates of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; two sister –in-laws, Sarah Pontillo and Mary Pontillo; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday 10:30 a.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME.

Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street.
