Mary A. Bersani Pontillo

Mary A. Bersani Pontillo, 89, passed away Tuesday at James Square Nursing Home. She was born and lived her entire life in Syracuse and attended North High School. Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Sylvio Pontillo in 2005.

Mary is survived by her son, Joseph J. Pontillo (Irene Carducci) of Syracuse; grandson, Philip Pontillo (Martha Stadler) of Montana; granddaughter, Laura Buehler of Syracuse; great-grandchildren, Mary and Jesse Buehler; sisters, Anita Mondo and son and Rita Romeo both of Syracuse; brothers, Albert (Joan) Bersani of Syracuse and Sam (Janae) Bersani of Florida and sisters-in-law, Sarah Pontillo of Syracuse and Esther Bersani of Massachusetts.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 11 a.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call, Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff at James Square 1-South for making her feel comfortable and loved. Also, Sister Elizabeth, Bob and Michelle for taking care of Mary’s spiritual needs.
