Obedie Preaster, Jr.

Obedie Preaster, Jr., 82, of Syracuse passed away on Sunday at home with his family by his side. Born in Valdosta, Georgia, he worked at Carrier Corp., Syracuse Health Center and owned O. Preaster Paving before retiring in 2008. He is predeceased by his parents, Obedie Preaster, Sr. and Ella Mae Erving and great-granddaughter, Tiamira “Nu-Nu” Unique Watkins.

Obedie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Rutland Preaster; daughters, Carolyn (Anthony) Jackson of Syracuse and Robin (Calvin) Wilcox of Fitzgerald, GA; sons, Ken (Kathryn) Preaster and Bryan (Kathleen) Preaster both of Syracuse; sister, Johnnie Mae Simmons of Orlando, FL; brother, Thomas Preaster of Syracuse, NY; sister-in-law, Irene Fant of Huntsville, AL; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 22 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday 12 p.m. at Greater Love in Christ Church, 2026 Midland Avenue, Syracuse. Professional services are entrusted to FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Park Street.

Burial will be private at a later date in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
