Thomas J. Barbato, Sr.

Thomas J. Barbato, Sr., 72, of East Syracuse, the son of Anna and Pasquale Barbato, passed away Monday at his home surrounded by his loving family. A life resident of the Syracuse area, he retired as a sheet metal worker for Local 58 after many years. A communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Thomas also served as an Alter Server for Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. He was a golf league member at Arrowhead Golf club for many years. Tom loved to spend time at the Casino with his friends and was an avid horse enthusiast. His humor and kindness will be missed by many who knew him. Predeceased by his brothers, Richard Barbato and Tony Barbato; and sister, Mary Deferio.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Giampa) Barbato; two sons, Thomas J. Barbato, Jr. of N.C. and Joseph Barbato of Verona, NY; one daughter, Lisa (Dave) Michalet of Liverpool; sisters, Josephine Carducci and Sharon (Walter) Cummings, both of Syracuse; brother, Rocco (Helen) Barbato of Syracuse; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 12 noon at Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held today (Tuesday) from 4-7 P.M. at the church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse. FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME is in care of arrangements.
