

Edward “Sonny” Moreno passed away on June 3, 2010, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76. Sonny was born on December 16, 1933, to his proud parents, Natividad and Juanita Moreno. He was raised on the Mayo Farms, working beside his father as he was growing up. Sonny entered the Construction Business, rising through the ranks from pipe fitter to becoming a Superintendent in various jobs. He was also active in a supportive role in the Boy Scouts, Lions Club and the Mr. & Mrs. Social Club. Sonny was an avid deer hunter. He loved to travel with his wife, Senaida, throughout the U. S. and Mexico and enjoyed the family get- togethers at his home.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Natividad Moreno II; his mother-in-law, Luciana Ramirez; his best friends in life: Lorenzo Guzman, Frank Trevino and Sylvester Sims.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Senaida of Taft, Texas; son, Edward (Kathy) Moreno Jr. of Portland, Texas; daughters: Melba (Ronnie) Rodriguez of Taft, Adela (Rudy) Rodriguez of Portland, Patsy (Ralph) Gonzales of Taft, Georgia (Andy) Garcia of Taft, and Monica Moreno of Portland; sister, Alicia Perez of Alice, Texas; brother-in-law, Joe Ortiz of Taft. Sonny is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 7, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church of Taft. Burial will follow at Taft Memorial Park.
Pall-Bearers will be Cory and Tommy Rodriquez, Natividad Moreno III, Ronnie, Ramsey, Eric Rodriquez, Joaquin, Nick Gonzales, Marcos and Gregory Garcia.
