Eunice "Nicha" Banda

Eunice “Nicha” Banda passed away January 26, 2018. She was 88. She was born on January 15, 1930 in Dilley, Texas to Clemente and Matilda Hernandez. She married Mateo Banda in 1948. They had ten children together. Eunice was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She worked at a nursing home in Aransas Pass for twenty years in Housekeeping then as a custodian at Gregory-Portland High School for ten years. Eunice also worked as a migrant worker for many years. She enjoyed her grandchildren very much. They made her very happy and loved for them to come visit her. Nicha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She had many longtime friends in Taft. She always talked about her migrant days and compadres working on El Rancho Colorado De Los Iveys.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mateo Banda and two daughters, Mary Bennett and Mirta Biens. Nicha is survived by her children, Estella Cisneros, Arnulfo (Janie) Banda, Linda (Hernando) Alvidrez, Romaldo (Cindy Cantu) Banda, Clemente (Hilda) Banda, Lourdes (Ariel Gaona) Banda, Mateo Banda Jr. and Pablo Banda; a sister, Minerva Vasquez; 34 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Taft Memorial Park.
