Julio G. Garcia

Julio G. Garcia went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 27, 2010, at the age of 82. He was born in Gregory, Texas on July 4, 1928, to Merced and Erminia Garcia. Mr. Garcia worked for fifty years as a farmer before his retirement. Thirty-two of those years were spent farming for William Floerke. He loved growing fruits and vegetables, working with wood and barbequing for his family.

Julio is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Vega Garcia of Taft, Texas; one son, Julio V. (Beatrice) Garcia, Jr.; two daughters, Angie (Felix) Guajardo, Jr. all of Taft and Ester (Daniel) Garcia; two brothers, Merced Garcia, Jr. all of Corpus Christi, Texas and Hector Garcia of Gregory, Texas; two sisters, Martha Jimenez of Ingleside, Texas and Belia Valencia of Gregory; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.

Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home, Taft, on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft. Burial will follow the service at Taft Memorial Park.
