Biography

Matilde Diaz passed away on April 2, 2010 at the age of 81. She was born in Odem, TX to Estefina Mendez and Manuel G Guzman on March 14, 1929.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Juan Jose, Filomana, Anita and Lorenzo.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gilberto Diaz; eleven children, Guadalupe G Diaz, Oralia Gonzales, Rosa Nieto, Florisa Gonzales, Dora Garza, Gilbert Diaz, Jr., Irene Carey, Connie Diaz, Joe Diaz, Esther Dillingham and Israel Diaz; her siblings, Manuel, Adelina, Janie, Leopoldo, Rutilio, Petronila, Florentina, and Maria; 29 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Matilde is also survived by many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited that same evening at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with interment to follow in Taft Memorial Park.
