Miguel L. Ramos passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born on September 29, 1921 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Pamoceno and Carlota Ramos. Miguel worked as a carpenter in the Taft area most of his life and was the business owner of The Taco Hut along with his wife, Irene. He proudly served his country in the United States Army enlisting on August 15, 1942, re-enlisting on May 9, 1946 and was discharged on May 24, 1947. S/Sgt. Ramos served with the 496th Medical Collecting Company and the 610th Medical Clearing Company serving in the European Theater during World War II. He spent a total of two years, eight months and twenty-four days overseas and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Europe American Campaign Medal, four Bronze Stars and four Overseas Service Bars. Miguel was a lifetime member with the Taft VFW, Explorer leader for the Boy Scouts and a member of Taft Lions Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers.

He will always be loved and remembered by his loving wife of 68 years, Irene; children, Imelda Ramos (Tom) Shane of Austin, Texas, Mel (Peggy) Ramos of Corpus Christi, Mike Ray (Estella) Ramos of Taft and Ileana (James) Boren of Ruidos, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Taft. Burial will follow the service at Taft Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
