Albert Lafayette Bond, age 67, of Cookson, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was born on July 29, 1958, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Leroy Scott Bond and Dorothy Helen (Milligan) Bond.
Albert grew up in a family shaped by service and hard work. His father, Leroy, served in the United States Navy, and as a result, Albert lived in many different places throughout his early life. He graduated from high school in Southaven, Mississippi, where he was an exceptional student, earning all A’s, participating in the National Honor Society, and being a member of the chess club. He later attended Mississippi State University, studying landscape architecture, before choosing to leave school to focus on raising and providing for his family. Albert eventually settled in Oklahoma, a place that became home, though he always held a deep love for the South. He believed in showing up, putting in an honest day’s work, and taking care of what mattered. He spent 30 years with Greenleaf Nursery, a milestone he had just celebrated, and was known for his dedication, reliability, and pride in his work. Albert rarely took a sick day and worked hard every single day of his life.
Family was the center of everything for Albert. He did whatever he could to provide, protect, and care for the people he loved. If he was responsible for something, or someone, he took that responsibility seriously, whether it was family, work, plants, or the pets he cared for over the years. He had a lifelong appreciation for plants, animals, and learning, and he enjoyed studying history, never losing his desire to know more about the world around him.
A God-loving man, Albert lived his faith quietly through his actions, with humility, consistency, and care for others. He made his home in Cookson, Oklahoma, with his beloved wife, Kathleen D. Bond (Knapp), and their dogs, building a life rooted in love, commitment, and shared devotion.
Albert is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kathy Bond; his sons, Timothy Matthew Bond, Christopher Aaron Bond and wife Sarah Lee, and Wesley Ryan Brehon; his brother, Keven Scott Bond; his grandchildren, Lillian Lee Bond and partner Tanner Rinehart, and Laila Belle Bond; and his great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Mae Rinehart, who brought him immense joy, and nephew Alex Bond and wife Gretchen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Scott Bond and Dorothy Helen (Milligan) Bond, nephew Addison Bond, aunt Arlene Eggenberger and cousin Steve Eggenberger.
Albert will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, deep love for family, and the quiet way he lived out his faith and values every day. His legacy lives on in the people he cared for, the work he was proud of, and the life he built with intention and love.
