Funeral services for Alvin Bird will be held on Thursday, March 14th, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Elm Prairie Church in Leach, OK, with Pastor Joe Christie officiating. Visitation will be conducted on Wednesday beginning at noon until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Alvin Bird was born on Saturday, July 28th, 1956 in Watts, OK, the son of Felix and Annie (Crittenden) Bird. He attended school and then began his career as a Handyman doing everything you could think of, he was very multitalented. He grew up with one brother, Lincoln and two sisters, Betty and Geneva. The love of his life was Lula Mae Lacy, they were married on Valentines Day, February 14th, 2004. He was the proud Papa of three sons and four daughters, Steven, Waylon, Shawn, Alvina, Stephanie, Anonda, and Shawnda. Alvin was a hard working man who enjoyed the beauty of the everyday life. He was versatile at gathering wild onion, mushrooms and finding crawdads. He was happy outdoors cutting wood in the company of his faithful canine companion, Cola. Hunting season found him bringing home deer every year for his family to enjoy. He was funny and had a great sense of humor ,and loved to tease. His friends and family were very special to him and he never missed a chance to gather with them to share a meal and enjoy the days activities. The most important part of Alvin’s life was attending church at Elm Prairie Church in Leach and singing the old gospel favorites, and sharing the love of the Lord he served faithfully. He was equally proud of his Cherokee heritage and all it had taught him in life. A Christian by faith, the Lord called this kind and gentle man home from his many labors on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 with his loved ones by his side. He was 62 years old and will be greatly missed for all the love he shared with those around him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, one great granddaughter, Nala Osage, and his grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Lula Mae of the home in Leach, and his children, Alvina Osage of Kansas, Steven Osage of Kansas, Stephanie Davis and husband Jeff also of Kansas, Anonda Bird of Tahlequah, Waylon Bird of Chewey, Shawn Bird of Chewey and twin sister, Shawnda Bird of Arizona. He leaves two sisters and one brother, Lincoln Bird of Westville, OK, Betty Davis of Jay,, OK, and Geneva Oliver of Diamond, MO. Alvin lives on in his ten grandchildren, Taylor Osage, July Davis, Julian Osage, Ticket Osage, Brenden Tagg, and Riley Tagg. His great grandchildren include Leyton Osage, Ayden Osage, Eli Fields, Zayden Osage, Bentley Osage, And Jaxson Johnson., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
