Funeral services for Annie S. Wildcat will be held Tuesday, June 26th, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Sequoyah High School gym in Tahlequah, OK. Interment will follow at Barber Cemetery in Barber OK. Viewing will be held Monday, June 25th, 2018, at 12-6pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home located in Tahlequah. Online condolences may be left for her family at www.reedculver.com
Pallbearers for Annie include Anthony Wildcat, Lyman Wildcat II, Jonathan Wildcat, Thunder Wolfe Wildcat, Jessie Grayson, Martin Teehee, Noah Teehee, and Randy Donelson. Her honorary pallbearers include Danny Bell, Andy Bell, Stu Drum, Johnny Drum, Jeff Hughart, Michael Scott, Adam Richmond, Noel T. Grayson, James Wildcat and Jonas Wildcat.
Annie was born August 20, 1945 in Cherokee County and was raised by her loving Aunt Mary Drywater along with Josephine Glass, Roy Christie & Joe Drywater, She grew up & and attended Sequoyah Indian boarding School. She met and married her loving husband Tom Webber Wildcat. Together they raised a family of three sons and three daughters, Susanna, Joyce, Charlie, Tammy, Tommy and Lucas.
Annie was a Cherokee artisan creating clay bead necklaces, jewelry & baskets in the traditional way of our Cherokee people for more than 25 years. Annie was a fluent Speaking full blood Cherokee & loved being around people and never grew tired of sharing her stories with others. She was fiercely proud of our Cherokee Nation and her Cherokee heritage. As a Cherokee first-language speaker, she always loved sharing & teaching anyone who was willing to learn.
Playing, Dancing and singing with her grandchildren was one of her favorite past times.
Annie and Tom were married for 55 years. They loved their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband passed from this life in 2008, and she remained with her family. On June 21st, 2018, Annie passed away at the age of 72. The matriarch of the family, she leaves behind a legacy of love and traditions for her family to follow. She will be truly missed by Family, Friends & all those who knew and loved this dear and wonderful Lady.
Annie is preceded in death by her late husband Tom Webber Wildcat, Aunt Mary Drywater, sister Josephine Glass, Roy Christie and grandson Octoby Rain Wildcat in 2006.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Charlie Wildcat and wife Stephanie of Gore, OK; Tommy Wildcat of Cherokee County, OK; Lucas Wildcat and wife Leah of Park Hill, OK; her three daughters, Susanna Wildcat of Tahlequah, OK; Joyce Johnson of Keys, OK; Tammy Buchanan her late husband Ken Buchanan of Tahlequah OK; and her brother Joe Drywater of Ft. Gibson, OK. Her legacy lives on through 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family, friends and loved ones. Do-nahjda-go-hv-i, Wado!
