Archie Ray Sequichie was born on December 18, 1957, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Levi and Edna Lee (Blaylock) Sequichie. Archie was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and a United States Army veteran. He served three years on active duty at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He continued his service for an additional eight years in the Army Reserve. During his military career, he earned the Good Conduct Medal and Expert Marksmanship Badge with the M16 rifle. His honorable service to his country was a source of pride throughout his life.
Archie was a hardworking man who believed in earning an honest living and helping others whenever he could. He worked for many years at the Pryor Foundry until shortly before its closure. He later built pole barns, hauled hay during the summers, and worked in maintenance for the Cherokee Nation. No matter the job, Archie was never afraid of a hard day's work. When he wasn't working, Archie enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and simply spending time in nature were among his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed shooting pool and spending time with family and friends. Known for his willingness to help others, Archie was the kind of person who would lend a hand whenever someone needed him.
Family was an important part of Archie's life. He shared 25 years with Lynda Sequichie, and together they welcomed their son, Jeremy Levi Sequichie. Archie also had two beloved grandchildren who affectionately called him "Duda." That special name was one he carried with love, and the memories they shared will forever be treasured.
Archie passed from this life on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at his home in Tahlequah at the age of 68 years old. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, his generous spirit, and his devotion to those he loved. Whether working with his hands, helping someone in need, or spending time with his grandchildren, Archie found meaning in life's simple pleasures. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Levi Sequichie and Edna Lee (Blaylock) Sequichie, his sister, Sue “Suzie” Nell Sequichie and his brother, Robert Lee Sequichie.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Jeremy Levi Sequichie and fiancé Jacci Hubbard of Pryor, Oklahoma; his two beloved grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends who will dearly miss him.
Archie will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
