Bertha Jo Whaler

Bertha Jo (Mouse) Whaler was born on May 20, 1956 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John and Rosie (Fields) Mouse. She grew up with her four brothers, Stephen “Archie” Mouse, John “Eddie” Mouse, Victor Mouse, and Cletus Mouse and her three sisters, Roberta Soap (Mouse), Cleta “Girlie” Huntley (Mouse), and Rebecca “Becky” Yahola (Mouse). Bertha was a proud member of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma.

She loved OU and Snoopy. In recent years, she has been bed bound and loved visits from family and friends. She enjoyed watching a variety of T.V. and movies, especially General Hospital with her grandkids. She liked to cheer and yell at the OU football games. She was the one to keep everyone updated on current news and weather. She also loved when other children would visit and call her “Grandma”. Bertha was a member of Long Prairie Baptist Church in Kansas, Oklahoma. The Lord called her home to paradise on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She was 65 years old.

She reunites in heaven with her grandparents, William and Elsie Fields and Sequoyah and Anna Mouse. She joins her father, John Mouse, her mother, Rosie (Fields) Mouse, four brothers, Stephen “Archie” Mouse, John “Eddie” Mouse, Victor Mouse, and Cletus Mouse, and one sister, Roberta (Mouse) Soap.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Charlie Whaler of the home, 2 daughters, Gwendalynn Tyon of Tahlequah and Aubry Mouse of Tahlequah, 2 sons, Derek Whaler of Tahlequah and Alan Whaler of Tahlequah. Also survived are 2 sisters, Rebecca (Mouse) Yahola and husband, Daniel “Tony” Yahola of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Cleta “Girlie” (Mouse) Huntley of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Her beloved grandchildren include, Katlyn Tyon of Pryor, Oklahoma, Kymber Tyon of Oklahoma, Sean Connolly of Tahlequah, Taleah Connolly of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Disosdi and Leila Elk of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, 3 great grandbabies and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family friends too numerous to mention.

Services for Bertha Jo Whaler will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Long Prairie Church with burial to follow at Long Prairie cemetery to follow in Kansas, Oklahoma with Pastor George Cochran officiating. Pallbearers include Scott “Poogie” Davis, Brett “Bign” Davis, Brent “Tiny” Davis, Kevin Davis, Joey Fields, Leon Mouse, Esamuel “Lil Man” O’field, Zak O’field, and Jamie Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Sean Connolly, Disosdi Elk, and Kyle Mouse.
